Temple firefighters battle blaze on MLK Drive

An early morning fire in Temple caused extensive damage to a building on South MLK Drive.

According to the fire department, Temple fire fighters arrived to find a wood framed building with extensive fire involvement, located at 1712 South MLK Drive. An exterior attack was used to battle the blaze. The call was dispatched at 3:13 a.m. The first engine arrived at 3:18 a.m., and the fire was under control at 4:34 a.m. There were no injuries reported.

At this time, fire investigators are working to determine the fire cause and origin.

Temple Police, Scott & White EMS, and Oncor Electric also responded. Firefighters had to work around a downed live electric wire at the building. Additional information will be sent as it becomes available.
