Temple, TX — Temple Police Department is investigating a homicide that took place last night at a local grocery store.
According to police, on Wednesday, at about 11:35 p.m., Temple police responded to a “shots fired” call at Pool’s Grocery, located at 1720 S. 1st Street. Upon arrival, officers located two adult males inside the business who had been shot and a third male unharmed inside the store. One of the injured males was transported to Scott and White Hospital with a life-threatening injury to the upper chest / shoulder area. The second victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a suspect, described as a short black male with a “stocky” build, long braided hair, and wearing a flat brimmed ball cap, entered the store and brandished a handgun. The suspect shot the victims before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, in an unknown direction.
Further description of the suspect is as follows: black male approximately 20-30 years of age, last seen wearing a black Chicago Bulls flat billed ball cap, black long sleeve sweater vest with white stripes that run around the collar, down the button line, and around the waist and cuffs, dark pants, and dark “converse style” shoes with white over the toe area.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
Temple Police Department’s General Investigations Unit is in charge of the investigation.
