Temple PD announces prescription medication disposal site

Tuesday, May 7, 2013 - 1:56pm

As a service to the community, and in light of the overwhelmingly positive response by the citizens of Temple to previous “Drug Take Back” programs, the Temple Police Department has created a permanent local drug disposal location. The secure disposal receptacle can be found in the front foyer of the central police department at 209 East Avenue A, and will be available to citizens 24 hours a day.

Any citizens that have accumulated any unwanted or unused prescription medications can safely discard those items in the secure receptacle. Any form of prescription medications may be placed in the receptacle, with or without their labels. The program is free and anonymous.

The Temple Police Department asks that liquid medications be inside a sealed container to prevent leaks and that no sharps or syringes be placed into the disposal receptacle. Anyone with any questions may contact the department at (254) 298-5530 during normal business hours.
