The Temple Police Department wants to invite anybody interested in the work of a police officer to enroll in their annual Citizen's Police Academy Program.

The deadline to apply is February 25 and classes start March 4.

Over a ten-week period, those attending will become familiar with basic police operations and procedures.

Students will also go on ridealongs and receive gun safety training at a local shooting range.

Those interested must be at least the age of 18.

Organizer Cpl. Glenn Elliott said it’s also a great way to get started on a career in law enforcement.

“That’s one of the things we’d like to use it for; To introduce people of hiring age to law enforcement. Give them an idea of ‘is this something I really want do," said Elliott.

The cost of the course is only $15.
