Texas Most Wanted Sex Offender caught in Nevada
Washoe County, Nevada — Sean Michael Smith, 37, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, is now in custody after his capture in Washoe County, Nevada. Smith was wanted for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in Denton County and was added to the Most Wanted list in July 2011. He was convicted of Indecency with a Child related to an attack involving a 14-year-old girl in Denton County in 1999.
Smith was arrested after he was stopped for Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle, and ultimately arrested by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office in Reno, Nevada, on August 17. No tip from the public was involved in this arrest, so no reward will be paid. See his captured bulletin at:
So far in 2012, DPS and other agencies have arrested 26 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, including 18 gang members, and $75,500 in rewards have been paid for tips that resulted in arrests. The cash rewards are funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division.
