On Thursday, a Houston jury found a mother guilty of burying her baby alive.

Narjes Modarresi appeared in court and tried to convince the jury that bi-polar disorder caused the mother to kill her child. A psychiatrist even testified having the baby made Modarresi's mental illness worse.

In the end, the jury didn't buy the defense's story. Modarresi's attorney says his client may have sealed her fate at beginning of the trial.

"All I can do is go back to the very beginning of this case when you realize that she admitted what she did, she fabricated stories," said her attorney.

The mother first told police her baby was abducted, but it was determined during investigations that she had buried her baby alive, and the child died from suffocation.

Modarresi faces up to life in prison.
