Three dead in Texas love-triangle beach shooting
JEFFERSON COUNTY (KBMT) -- A spokesperson for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Monday morning told 12News the names of three people killed Sunday in a shooting at McFaddin Beach will be released once all families have been notified. The spokesperson said he expects this to be around noon.
Jefferson County Deputy Rod Carroll told 12News that calls began coming in to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office dispatch center around 4:39 p.m. reporting a shooting in progress at McFaddin Beach. Deputy Carroll said when officers arrived they found that three people, including the shooter, were dead.
Deputy Carroll said the gunman's injuries appeared to be self-inflicted.
Chief Deputy Zena Stephens told 12News that it appears the shooting happened after an argument between a girlfriend, boyfriend and an ex boyfriend.
Witnesses told 12News the woman was shot twice in the face and her boyfriend was shot four times.
Witnesses also say the gunman was driving a red truck up and down the beach before the shooting with a passenger in the truck, but deputies could not confirm those details.
A deputy told 12News the woman's two children witnessed the shooting.
Jefferson County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Judge Marc Derouen has ordered an autopsy.
