Waco (KWKT) — Two men were rescued from rushing creek water after the weekend's heavy thunderstorms caused street flooding in some areas.
On August 17, Waco police received a call that two men were swept into a creek in the 1500 block of Webster.
One man fell into the fast moving waters and the other man jumped in to save the man, said Sgt. Patrick Swanton, with the Waco Police Department.
The men were trapped by the rushing water until one man was able to escape the current and call 911 from his cell phone.
Waco fire and police responded to the scene.
Both men were rescued and treated for minor injuries.
Police warn citizens that swift water is extremely dangerous. They should avoid creeks or water covered roads during rainfalls.
