WACO — Waco Ploce responded to two separate aggravated assaults on Thursaday night and early Friday morning, both incidents involved stabbings.
First incident occurred on Thursday at 11:30 pm in the on the 900 block of Austin Ave. Officers responded to a call from a witness who was passing through the area of 1100 block of Franklin and saw a person standing by the road that was bleeding. The victim, 45 year old black male Phillip Edwards said his car ran out of gas and was stopped in the area around the 900 block of Austin Ave. A white vehicle pulled in behind him and an unknown young black male approached him asking for some money. The victim told the suspect he had none and he was then stabbed in the shoulder by suspect. The victim said he does not know who the suspect is that stabbed him. The victim left the scene and went to the 1100 Franklin where he was contacted by Police. Edwards was taken to a local hospital and treated for a single stab wound to his shoulder. His condition is unavailable and no suspect was located.
The second incident occurred on Friday morning at 2:30 in the 1700 Block of Webster. Police responded to a call from a witness who said there was an individual at 17th street and Franklin that was bleeding. As Officers arrived at the scene they contacted 23 year old hispanic male Richard Garcia who was injured from stab wounds. Officers believe this occurred during a disturbance at a residence in the 1700 block of Webster. This victim could not provide much information on what occurred to Officers. This victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for stab wounds to his upper torso. His condition is unavailable. No arrests were made and the investigation is on-going
We do not believe the two incidents are related.
