Waco, Tx — Once again, TXDoT officials are warning drivers to be cautious on the road, as precipitation and chilly temperatures continue across Central Texas.
Yesterday, freezing fog was being reported in the Waco district, with cameras showing moisture condensation along I-35 in spots from Temple through Waco. The Bruceville-Eddy to Hewitt/Robinson area south of Waco reported moisture building up on I-35 pavement, with drivers slowing to avoid it.
Officials say be extremely careful on highways, as fog condensation on road surfaces can freeze quickly and be invisible to drivers (this is called ‘black ice,’ since it is often on dark asphalt). Overpasses and bridges are the first areas to freeze, since the air under them makes them chill faster than pavement on the ground.
We have several more days of overnight freezing temperatures predicted for this area. Please be careful and stay off the highways as much as possible!
