Temple, TX — Several closures were made for southbound I-35 in Temple on Wednesday.
1. Southbound Exit #300 (49th-57th Streets/Avenue H) was closed. Travelers needing to access businesses in the area will be directed to Exit #299 (Loop 363/US 190/SH36), then U-turn back to the north on the frontage road. The roads that cross under I-35 will remain open and drivers will be able to access the area west of I-35 on those. (See map below.)
2. The right mainlane closed from the Central/Adams crossing (Exit #301) to Avenue H from on Wednesday as the contractor sets up concrete traffic barrier and restripes the area near Exit #300 as a result of the closure of that exit.
3. Southbound frontage road traffic will be switched onto new temporary pavement just north of Adams and reduced from two lanes to one lane. This reduction and pavement switch will remain in place for approximately a year as work is done in this area (different frontage-road lanes will be closed at various times, but there will only be one lane open throughout the work).
