Members of the Waco Police Department Drug Enforcement Section conducted a joint prostitution sting due to the increase in the use of social media to facilitate the illegal act of prostitution.

Officers went undercover this past week posing as prostitutes using social media to meet with “johns” (a person who uses prostitutes). This type of social media activity has been on the increase and the effort is being made by the Waco Police Department to reverse this trend in our area.

Officers arrested twenty-four male individuals who were attempting to solicit sex in exchange for money from the undercover officers. Twenty-one of the individuals have been charged with Attempted Prostitution and have met the requirements to attend a “John School” that is being held later this month. Three others are not eligible for the class and have instead been charged with Prostitution.
