UPDATE: Waco Police say the coroner ruled that 59-year-old Claudie Wagner died from natural causes due to previous existing conditions.

Therefore, Waco police will continue to investigate this case as a robbery, not a homicide.

Original Report The victim of a recent robbery has died in a local hospital following a vicious attack.

On May 6th at 4:00 a.m., Waco Police responded to a call of a man down in the 1600 block of Herring Avenue. Authorities say that 59-year-old Claudie Wagner had been beaten unconscious and robbed.

Wagner was reportedly in and out of consciousness, but the officers were able to determine he had been robbed. He had had several injuries to his face and body from the beating.

Emergency crews took Wagner to a local hospital, where he stayed until his death on Saturday at 6:10 p.m. His body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy. Detectives may upgrade the offense to capital murder once the autopsy is completed.

Police are asking for the publics' assistance. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this attack are asked to contact Detective Kristina Woodruff at 254-750-7614 or the Waco Police Department at 254-750-7500. Callers do not have to reveal their identity.
