The bones were examined and determined to be animal bones.
BRYAN -- It's been one day since the Bryan Police Department began an investigation into the possibility that human remains were buried in a vacant lot.
So today, Lauren Holman, spoke with neighbors that live near the site who tell us they're in disbelief.
While the Bryan Police Department digs for what may be a buried body at 608 East 24th Street, neighbors down the road, are wanting answers as to what may have happened right next door.
"It's just kind of like, you know shocking for somebody that's lived here for a while," said Javier Nunez.
Police say they got an anonymous tip late last week from a caller saying there may be human remains buried in the yard dating back to the 1960s and after an initial investigation, police decided they had enough evidence to dig.
"We have to assume that the information given to us was correct and valid," said Officer Kelly McKethan.
Worrying those that live down the street.
"It's very interesting to find out that something is possibly wrong down there knowing that we have no clue what's going on," said Melissa Garcia. "Especially with our kids always being outside, I want to know what happened."
Police hope to have some answers soon.
During the excavation investigators found bones that will be sent to a laboratory for tests to determine if they're human or animal and then determine if a crime was committed.
