UPDATE: Killeen officials release name of man killed in Monday shooting


ORIGINAL REPORT: One person is dead after an early morning shooting in Killeen Monday.

Killeen Police are investigating a possible murder that took place around 2:16 a.m. in the 1400 block of E. Ave G.

Callers told dispatchers they heard shots fired in the area, and when officers arrived, they found a man lying outside in front of the porch with a gunshot wound to his chest. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced the victim deceased and ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

The identity of the victim is unknown at this time.
