Volunteer fire department burglarized Saturday, equipment still missing
LEROY — Thousands of dollars worth of equipment was stolen from the Leroy Volunteer Fire Department Saturday night.
Although a few small items were recovered in Elm Mott, some invaluable pieces of equipment are still missing like an EMS trauma bag and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), which is used when people go into cardiac arrest and can cost between 1,500 and 3,000 dollars.
According to the Leroy-Axtell Facebook page, the McLennan County Sheriff's Office is handling the case and they have a person of interest.
New updates confirm the fire department may not have been the only place burglarized that night.
Though some have asked, so far the fire department is not planning any kind of fundraiser because they say they want to explore all the leads and hopefully get their equipment back.
What they are asking however, is for everyone to keep their eyes open for a bunker coat with Leroy VFD on the back, a morning pride helmet, a blue EMS airway bag and trauma bag and an AED.
If you have any information on this case please contact the McLennan County Sheriff's Office.
