Waco carjacking suspect killed in shootout with border patrol agent

The Border Patrol Department has released a statement in the shooting incident of one of their own agents.

In the morning hours of March 21, an agent on patrol, witnessed a suspicious vehicle parked on FM 649 and Chihuahua Road south of Hebbronville, Texas.

When the agent began questioning the driver, he became combative, pulled out a weapon and fired it striking the agent. A second Border Patrol agent, at the scene, fired his weapon disabling the suspect in the vehicle.

The injured border agent was airlifted to a local hospital and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the suspect was driving a stolen car and is a person of interest in an armed robbery and carjacking in Waco, Texas.
