Waco emergency responders pull teenager from Lake Waco

Waco police and emergency rescuers responded to a report of a possibly drowning at the Speegleville Park at the Twin Bridges Parkway around 4:30 p.m.

According to Sgt. Steve Wilson with the Waco Police Department, within 5 minutes of arrival, officers began a line search in the water.

Approximately 25 minutes later, police found the 14-year-old, in a swim area submerged in approximately 4 feet of water.

Emergency personal preformed CPR on the teenager before he was taken to Hillcrest Hospital.

According to Sgt. Swanton with the Waco Police Department, medical staff continued to work on the 14-year-old at the hospital but resuscitation efforts failed.

The 14 year old was declared deceased at 5:52 p.m. by Hillcrest Doctors. JP Decluitt. An autopsy  on the boys body has been ordered.

Officers were unsure how long the boy was underwater, but they believe he could have been submerged for up to an hour.

Police say the boy was at the park with his family. After the boy went missing, the family called 911.
