Waco, Tx — A Waco man accused of murdering his girlfriend and taking her child is currently behind bars in Bryan.
At 6:30 p.m., the Waco Police Department was alerted to a dispute that ended in gunfire on the 2500 block of East Lakeshore at a local apartment complex. When officers made it to the apartment in question, they found a woman, later identified as 41-year-old Kimberly Farr Petetan, dead with multiple gun shot wounds to her torso. J.P. Laster pronounced Kimberly dead and ordered the body sent to Dallas for autopsy.
Investigators learned Petetan had been involved in an alleged heated argument with Carnel Petetan, Jr., that lead to a deadly shooting. The two are married, but not currently living together.
Officers were preparing to issue an Amber Alert for the 9-year-old when they discovered she was missing, but discovered she was safe after Bryan police reported having her and the suspect in custody following a traffic stop. The child was not injured and was later released to relatives.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Carnel Petetan and he was charged with the murder of Kimberly Petetan. He is currently being held in Bryan.
