A Waco man was arrested on Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection to a February stabbing at a Waco Park.

Police say Juan Carlos Villa, 21, attacked another man at Kendrick Park, located in the 4000 block of Bagby Avenue on February 27. Villa reportedly pulled up to the park, where the victim was located and started an argument. The argument eventually led to Villa pulling out a box cutter and slashing and cutting the victim several times. Family of the victim was able to intervene and run Villa off.

The victim was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center for treatment.

When police questioned the victim, they say he told them he knew his attacker but did not know what caused the attack.

“He knew the guy from around town, but didn’t really know why he wanted to fight him,” said Sergeant W. Patrick Swanton of Waco PD.

Villa was booked into jail on a $20,000 bond.
