A McLennan County Grand Jury met today and has completed their review of the officer involved shooting that occurred on January 11th at 3424 Forrester.

Officers Hans Fitting and Darrell Patterson were “No Billed” during the Grand Jury meeting.

The Waco Police Department completed two separate investigations on the incident.

Both the administrative and the criminal investigations showed that the involved officers followed department training, procedures and state law.

Upon hearing the no bill determination, Chief Stroman stated, “The officers involved in this incident have been cleared by two very thorough department investigations, as is routine in officer involved shootings. Both investigations showed that officers acted appropriately when they were faced with a threat to themselves and others. We are appreciative of the diligent job of the McLennan County DA’s Office and the Grand Jury in this case.”

Officer Patterson had previously been returned to full duty. Officer Fitting was on administrative duty, as is normal in these cases, and now will be returned to full duty.
