bellmead, tx — Bellmead police have arrested a wanted felon who is accused of assault and arson.
Police say Shane Michael Springer was located and captured on Friday, August 8 at 6:18 p.m. He was arrested without incident and the vehicle he was driving was returned to the registered owner and victim.
There were four felony warrants served on Springer. They included assault family violence- strangulation, unlawful restraint, attempted sexual assault, and arson.
Police originally received a call about Springer on Friday, around 1 a.m. in reference to a domestic violence situation. When officers arrived on scene, they noticed flames coming from a nearby mobile home. Officials say the victim told police that her husband, Springer, had physically assaulted her, threatened to kill her, and attempted to burn down their mobile home down.
The Bellmead Fire Department was able to put out the flames, but the home had significant damage. Springer, a reported felon, fled the scene in a red 1998 Dodge truck with a Texas incenses plate of, AZ50317. Springer stated "he would not go back to prison," said the release.
