The weekend rain may be long gone but TxDOT is still trying to clean up the mess left behind.

"The structures washed out, causing us these huge washouts that are like seven foot deep," said TxDOT's Bob Colwell.

FM 1155 and FM 2193 in Washington County and Straub Road in Brazos County are closed until further notice because of some massive washouts in the road.

The rain came too hard, too fast and now all that's left of the road are concrete chunks of pavement.

"What happened was there was so much rainfall in such a short amount of time we had water that was running over the roadway and underneath it so the force of the water coming just washed the structures out that helped drain it," said Colwell.

The washouts in Washington County are at the top of TxDOT"s to-do list but with more rain in our forecast throughout the week; the holes could get a whole lot bigger before they get fixed.

"We never know what Mother Nature is going to throw at us and that's just part of the job," Colwell tells us.

It could take up to two months to have both FM roads repaired and we're told the washout on Straub Road will be Brazos County's responsibility.
