WACO -- There are more than 3.5 million homeless in the U.S., a number that continues to grow in this struggling economy. In McLennan County alone, nearly a third of the population is living at or below the poverty level.
There are approximately 800 psychiatric patients in McLennan county every year, needing inpatient treatment. Unfortunately, the facilities in Waco do not provide enough space for all these patients to get the treatment they need.
