I also have the same pet peeve, but am OK with it because I've been able to pay for wehatver areas need taken care of outside scholarship monies.As for the total amount, here's what I meant: let's say a CRHS students gets $30K a year to attend Hahhhvard ($120K total). The student reports that as $120K; they also received $40K (4-year total) at each of our five largest state schools = $200K. So they report $320K for just one student knowing that they're going to UT-Austin regardless. So even if not all scholarships are reported, I'm guessing that there are at least a couple million minimum that are reported as scholarship earnings that aren't going to be used and some aren't much more than need-based financial aid, as you mentioned above. All in all it's just a diversion to keep attention away from banning speakers, etc. among other issues that the district doesn't want people knowing/talking about.
