Bellmead, TX — Firefighters from three Central Texas fire departments have spent ten hours Monday morning battling a large building fire in Bellmead.
Bellmead, Waco and Lacy Lakeview fire crew responded to a fire at 1509 New Dallas Highway, which appears to be the location of Texas Meter and Device, around 2 a.m.
It appears the structure is a total loss, as fire crews are reporting that they now have the fire contained. As of noon, a firefighter with Bellmead Fire Department says they are just putting out "hot spots".
New Dallas Highway, U.S. 77, was closed to traffic in both directions early this morning, as the fire was still burning. However, southbound traffic towards Waco has since been reopened.
The American Red Cross came out to provide ice, water, snacks and support for the about 20 firefighters battling the warehouse fire.
Investigation will continue, determining what actually caused the fire.
