SNOOK, TX — The tight-knit community of Snook is in shock tonight after a shooting leaves one man dead, two others injured and another man behind bars.
The investigators may be gone but the police tape remains as a reminder to those that live at the Cotton Village Apartments off F.M. 60 in Snook that something bad happened here Sunday morning.
"I still can't believe it."
Roy Hawkins said he was lying in bed Sunday morning when he thought he heard fireworks outside.
Those fireworks turned out to be gunshots.
"The first time it was a couple of pops and then it was just pop, pop, pop and something told me I needed to look outside and sure enough there was all the flashing lights and everything," said Hawkins.
Police aren't releasing many details except the fact that 31-year-old Marcus Carroll was killed, two others were shot and now 19-year-old Broderick Grba is in the Burleson County Jail charged with murder.
"What happened could have been prevented," said Carroll's girlfriend, Letisha McKee. "I did what I was supposed to do and called police and told them he was being harassed."
McKee tells us the arguments had been going on for over a week. She tried getting in touch with police but never got a response until things turned deadly Sunday.
"I just wanted police to talk to them, just talk to them is all I wanted. Anything besides as far as its had to come," said McKee.
Carroll leaves behind seven children and McKee says she wants to see justice served.
"I want them to be in jail, I want them to be in jail for a long time."
Grba is being held in the Burleson County Jail on $1M bail.
