coryell county, tx — Roger Faught, 58, of Copperas Cove, passed away January 26, 2013, at his residence. He was the 10th child born to Irlan and Bertha Faught in Brownfield, Texas on February 2, 1954.
He graduated from Burnet High School in 1973. He married his high school sweetheart Cathy O'Dell in 1973.
He was a certified Master Peace Officer. He worked for Copperas Cove Police Department, for many years before becoming the Sheriff of Coryell County. He was currently serving as a Constable in Coryell County serving the people of Precinct 1. He also was an instructor at the Central Texas College Police Academy for many years.
Roger was a member of and the Past Master of Mt. Horeb Lodge #137 A.F. and A.M. in Mahomet, Texas.
He loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, gardening and spending time behind the BBQ grill. When he was not doing these things he enjoyed cruising the seas with the love of his life Cathy.
Roger was devoted to God and family, and all who knew him "John Wayne" justice. He was a phenomenal husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle as well as a respected law enforcement officer.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Betty Stephens, Mary Crawford, Joanne Smith, Faye Stancil, Wayne Faught and James Faught.
He is survived by his wife Cathy Faught of Copperas Cove; two daughters, Christy McMichael and her husband Rick of Gatesville and Laurie Faught and Jon of Clinton, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Madeline, Shelby and Cordell McMichael, Cheyenne and Charisma Faught; and a great grandchild on the way; a brother Bill Faught; two sisters Georgie Trull and Linda Ramsey and many extended family members and friends.
The Faught family will receive guests from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Trinity Worship Center in Copperas Cove with Pastor Kirby Lack officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Masons' and local law enforcement officers.
