Killeen , tx — The Killeen Police Department is investigating a pursuit, which resulted in an officer's injury Wednesday morning.
According to the report, an officer was patrolling in the 200 block of North WS Young, at approximately 10:30am, when he located a white Hyundai Azera that had been reported stolen earlier in the day. The Azera was traveling northbound, with two males inside. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused, and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit continued through the housing area, north of Rancier Avenue, continuing onto Cole Avenue, where the suspect ran into a patrol unit, injuring the officer at Duncan and Cole. The driver continued to flee when the vehicle wrecked, in the 1500 block of Duncan. The driver then continued to flee on foot and was apprehended in the 1600 block of Duncan. The two males, a 19-year-old and a 32-year-old, were taken into custody and transported to the Killeen City Jail. Their names have been withheld pending formal charges returned from the Bell County District Attorney’s Office.
The injured officer was transported to Metroplex Hospital with a head injury and subsequently transferred to Scott and White Memorial Hospital where he remains in stable condition.
This case continues to be investigated and information will be released as it becomes available.
