Waco, TX — On Tuesday night, the Waco City Council voted on a controversial nightclub ordinance.
With a 5-1 vote, the council passed a preliminary bill that would require licenses for bars and nightclubs that allow dancing.
Some say the ordinance gives the city and local officials too much power to close down businesses.
Those for the bill say it would allow police and fire marshals to forcefully close down places that are disruptive and potentially dangerous to the community.
The final vote is set for April 15.
