Temple, TX — A company currently building a new power plant in Temple has decided to expand the plans. That could possibly mean another 600-800 jobs will be created.
Dallas-based Panda Power will double the size of the plant.
Instead of producing 758 megawatts of electricity, it will now generate 1,516 Mega Watts which will supply the area's future population growth.
The project broke ground in September and city leaders say they are glad it will be home to Temple.
“It is one of the largest private projects in Central Texas history. It’s a huge project. We are very happy here in Temple and we hope it benefits all of Central Texas," said Lee peterson of the Temple Economic Development Corporation.
The total economic benefit from the project in the first ten years is estimated at $1.6 billion.
