Copperas Cove Police Department — On April 23, at approximately 10:55 a.m., Copperas Cove Police Officers engaged in a foot pursuit of a wanted felony suspect in the 200 Block of Northern Dove Lane.
The suspect entered a densely wooded area, where he concealed himself to temporarily elude apprehension. Members of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice K-9 Team responded to assist with the search and were able to locate the route traveled by the suspect.
A second foot pursuit was later initiated and the suspect fled into a residence in the 40 block of Cactus Drive, which was also occupied by two adults and three children. Officers were unable to get a response from anyone in the residence. Negotiators were called to the scene and facilitated the safe exit of the two adults and three children. The Copperas Cove SWAT Team then made entry into the residence, where they were able to apprehend the suspect.
There were no injuries reported in relation to this incident.
The incident is still under investigation by the Copperas Cove Police Department and further information will be released as it becomes available. The identity of the suspect and charges filed will be released upon arraignment.
