Waco, Texas - As Cameron Park Zoo transitions into the summer season, some things are definitely changing on Zoo grounds. One of those things is KidZoobilee, one of the Zoo’s capital fundraisers. It is now being held on May 4, 2013, rather than the last weekend in June. This change was made to make the event more comfortable for Cameron Park Zoo patrons who may not like to brave the intense heat of the Texas summer. Another change is the addition of games that are appealing to older children. In addition to the usual favorites like water slides, a rock climbing wall, and the bungee run, the zoo has added two Zip-lines (one for younger kids and another for older kids and adults) and an indoor Laser-tag.
The Kings and Queens, a children’s’ African Dance Group and Baba Kwasi, an African story teller and drummer, will provide entertainment and cultural enrichment. KidZoobilee guests will be able to interact with both the kids dance group and Baba. Before these performances KidZoobilee guests can participate in providing entertainment in the form of Karaoke. The Zoo is always grateful to the many restaurants that support the KidZoobilee event by providing delicious “kid-friendly” food and drinks.
Kid Zoobilee is the most unique special event in our community, due to the setting. Where else can you enjoy an evening of fabulous food, fun, and entertainment in a lush, natural habitat for exotic and endangered animals from around the world? The best part of participating in KidZoobilee is knowing that your dollars contribute to the continued conservation of these extraordinary creatures.
