Waco, TX — A Waco man will spend at least the next ten years of his life in prison after pleading guilty to a second-degree felony aggravated assault charge.
Darrel Stewart, 27, was given a 20-year sentence for throwing his ex-girlfriend out of a moving car.
Stewart forced his way into her home and then made her, and her two kids, get into his car back in February of 2012.
After an argument while driving on Highway 84, Stewart pushed the girlfriend out of the car. She suffered numerous broken bones and abrasions.
Stewart then proceeded to drag her back into his car and head to Mexia. Stewart got out of the car to go into a convenience store.
That's when the girlfriend took the car and her three kids back to Waco where she then contacted police. He was arrested the next day.
Stewart, who originally faced charges of attempted capital murder and kidnapping, will be eligible for parole in 2022.
