Waco, Tx — For the first time in decades, the Annual Memorial Day Ceremony, held by the McLennan County Veterans Association, will not be held at Rosemound Cemetery.
This year's celebration take place at 9 a.m. on Monday at the Waco Memorial Cemetery. Event hosts say they wanted to bring more people together in a central location to celebrate the veterans' lives. Around 900 people are expected to attend. The change in venue is set to provide better parking and more room to gather in remembrance.
"Some of them may have not been combat veterans, and some of them were. But, they all gave something. And, it's just you want to show your respects to them. And, the best place to do that is where they're at," said McLennan County Veterans Association member, Robert Carter.
The cemetery is located right off of I-35 and Highway 6. Another Memorial Day ceremony will be held at the Doris Miller Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. on Monday as well.
