Temple, TX — Thursday, around 11:55 a.m., Temple Police Department responded to a call of a motor vehicle accident northbound,on the service road of Interstate 35 between mile markers 305 and 306.
The initial investigation indicates a white 2013 Chevrolet SUV was stopped on the side of the service road, facing north. Initial investigation showed the occupant was outside the vehicle changing a tire. A red Jeep SUV stopped to inquire if any assistance was necessary. A white Chevrolet pickup traveling northbound did not see the two SUV’s stopped in the roadway, or the pedestrian working on the vehicle. The operator of the pickup appears to have made an attempt to avoid the crash, but was unable to avoid colliding with both SUV’s and the pedestrian.
First aid was provided to the victim by witnesses while Temple Fire and Rescue and Scott and White EMS responded. Unfortunately, all attempts to save the victim were unsuccessful, and he was pronounce deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace G.W. Ivey.
There were no other injuries reported as a result of this accident. Temple Police Department Traffic Accident Reconstruction Unit is conducting the investigation into the crash.
The deceased is identified as William Craig Holland a 69-year-old man from Roanoke, Texas.
