Waco, Tx — Waco Police Department is putting the final touches onto their new building before officially opening on Monday at 5 a.m.
Their new facility, located at 3115 Pine Street, is around 110,000 square feet in size. Each floor is around 10,000 square feet large. The department also boasts a state-of-the-art dispatch and call center. The 245 officers and 90 civilians of the department have been located at their 4th Street location for more than 40 years. However, the department felt now was the time to move to more space to better serve the citizens of Waco.
"We used every bit of our bond money. We started off with 13 million, and over the course of the project, it earned a little over a million. And, we used every bit of that money, along with some other. It's a very good value for the citizens of Waco," said Brent Stroman, Waco Police Chief.
Every department of the agency will be located in the new building, except the Drug Enforcement Division and Crimes Against Children Division. Previously, five services of the department were located at several locations.
