Temple, TX — A Temple man was indicted this week for reportedly biting a Killeen police officer’s nose in a scuffle after being pulled over.
Daniel Honorato Masias, 48, was indicted by a Bell County Grand Jury on Wednesday with an assault on a public servant charge. Masias remains in jail on a $100,000 bond.
According to an arrest affidavit, Masias was stopped for a broken taillight back in April. Masias reportedly gave the officer a false name, wouldn’t provide and ID, and tried to run off. The officer was able to catch Masias, however. Shortly after placing Masias in custody, Masias reportedly got into a scuffle and bit the officer. Hospital reports also indicate a piece of the officer’s knee bone was sheared off.
If convicted, Masias could face a maximum of ten years in prison.
