Fort Hood soldier ID'd as shooter
Killeen, TX — The man who fatally shot a Killeen police officer over the weekend was a Fort Hood soldier.
Pfc. Dustin Billy Cole, 24, shot and killed Killeen Police Officer Bobby Hornsby after a SWAT team responded to a call saying Cole was brandishing a firearm towards others.
Hornsby was approaching Cole at his apartment when Cole grabbed an AK47 semi-automatic rifle and shot Hornsby.
Cole died from returned fire from police.
Funeral services honoring Hornsby will be held Thursday morning at the Killeen Civic and Conference center at 10.
Hornsby leaves behind his wife and two young children.
Officer Bobby Hornsby was 32-years-old.
