Waco, Texas (KWKT) — The body of a man found in a truck in Speegleville on Thursday have been identified.
The man was identified as John Michael Johnson, 34.
Thursday morning around 11:40 a.m., a fisherman discovered the body of a man inside a truck. At 11:40 am Waco Officers responded to the 2200 block of Barrett Road on the discovery.
On-scene officers were quickly able to identify Johnson.
Initially McLennan County Sheriff Deputies were called to the scene but realized the body was inside the city limits of Waco. Deputies notified Waco P.D. to respond. Officers did not locate any obvious signs of foul play or any apparent self inflicted wounds. Justice of the Peace DeCluitt came to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The body has been sent for autopsy and pending results, cause of death is unknown.
Officers were also assisted by Crime Scene Unit, Lake Rangers and the Special Crimes Unit. Additional details will be made available once autopsy results are determined.
