Killeen, Texas (KWKT) — A Harker Heights man is behind bars after a Bell County Grand Jury issues an indictment for his involvement in a 2011 murder.
Detectives with the Killeen Police Department Criminal Investigations Division have been investigating a murder that occurred on near the intersection of Conder Street and Zephyr Road on August 23, 2011.
Officers responded to this area at 9:49 p.m., after reports of shots being fired in the area. Upon their arrival they located a 41 year old male, suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso, in a vehicle that had crashed through a fence and gone into the backyard of a residence.
Dominque Allen Davis was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
Through the investigation it was determined that Donald Lee Mitchell Jr., 29, was involved in Davis’ murder.
This case was taken before the Bell County Grand Jury on Wednesday, and an indictment was issued, along with a warrant for his arrest.
On Thursday, agents with the U.S. Marshal’s Office arrested Mitchell at his residence in Harker Heights without incident and was transported to the Bell County Jail.
