belton, tx — Water levels at Lake Belton are noticeably low, causing officials to monitor them just in case a more serious drought plan needs to take effect.
As of 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, the water level in the lake was reported at 581.53 feet. The lake's standard elevation is 594 feet below sea level. The water level has been on a reported steady decline since July. In fact, since yesterday, the lake's level has dropped .03 feet.
While the numbers are alarming, the lake is still 70% full.
