Hewitt, TX — The city of Hewitt is considering an ordinance that would require all residents to not only spay and neuter their pets, but to have them microchipped as well.
On Monday night, the city council discussed the proposal that mirrors a recently-enacted Waco law.
If the ordinance passes, Hewitt could impose a $500 fine for any violators.
City officials say the law would ease the population of local animal shelters.
The council expects to vote on ithe measure in a future meeting.
