Waco, TX — On Tuesday night the Waco City Council successfully voted to create an authority to oversee non-Baylor events at the school's new football stadium currently being built.
The new $260 million stadium will be home to the Baylor Bears starting in the 2014 season, but both the school and city hope to capitalize on more than just college football.
The council will establish the Baylor Waco Stadium Authority to oversee events at the state-of-the-art riverfront venue.
The governing board will be made up of distinguished Wacoans.
Mayor Malcolm Duncan Jr. said Tuesday night’s motion will make sure the stadium provides future economic prosperity to the city.
