Temple, Texas (KWKT) — Wednesday morning, around 1:55 a.m., Temple police responded to a report of suspects attempting to break into an apartment in the 600 block of West French Avenue. The caller said she had locked herself in the bathroom and the suspects were inside her unit.
The first officer on scene heard a loud noise as he got out of his car and saw a man fleeing from the area of the apartment. The officer ordered the suspect to stop and chased the suspect a short distance from the scene. The man resisted the officers’ efforts to arrest him, but was taken into custody.
An additional officer arriving at the scene observed a second man running from the area. The officer ordered him to to stop before catching the male a short time later.
The suspect, identified as Jeffrey Mundo, 17, of Temple man, is currently in the Bell County Jail charged with resisting arrest, search, or transport, evading arrest or detention and failure/refusal to identify.
The identity of the second suspect is not being released due to his status as a juvenile.
The burglary investigation is on-going at this time and will be presented later to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office for review.
