Fort Hood, TX — 500 Army soldiers from Fort Hood are headed to Kosovo this Sunday. Today, the unit held its color casing ceremony in preperation for their deployment.
The 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade will be assisting a multi-nation agreement to protect the newly formed Balkan state.
Wednesday's ceremony retired the unit’s flags bearing their colors until they come back to American soil.
The mission includes collecting, processing and analyzing intelligence for troops on ground.
Current Commander, Col. Charles T. Hensley, spoke directly to the soldiers at Ready Field in West Fort Hood.
Hensley said, “To the soldiers on the field, I look forward to meeting the challenges that lay ahead. And as always, I’m very proud to be a member of your team. Army Warriors. Phantom Warriors. Army Strong.”
The Fort Hood troop will be replacing soldiers from the 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade from Fort Bragg, N.C.
