Waco, Texas — The Waco Transit system is announcing the use of GPS tracking capabilities for those using city buses.
Previously, Waco Transit used tracking capability on Baylor campus shuttle vehicles. Now, that technology is being expanded to regular city bus lines. Riders may download a free app on their smart phone that allows them to track the buses in real time as they move along the route.
Additionally, Waco Transit has also added a feature which allows riders throughout the city to text the GPS app from a specific bus shelter location and receive a text back immediately, letting them know how far away the bus is. Officials say these advances are true game changers for public transportation in Waco.
A ribbon cutting to unveil the GPS tracking capability will take place on Thursday at 4p.m. at the Waco Transit bus station, located at the corner of 8th Street and Mary.
