Waco, Texas — Tuesday, members of the Salvation Army held a press conference in Waco to announce the fifth annual "Soup for the Hungry Souls" campaign, in partnership with Chick-Fil-A.
The Salvation army also talked about the needs in the community, especially since their monetary goal for the Red Kettle Campaign was not reached this year. However, the Salvation Army is still taking donations.
To participate in Soup for the Hungry Souls, just stop by Chick-Fil-A and buy a cup or bowl of soup in the month of February. In turn, a soup will be donated to feed a client of the Salvation Army.
"So many times, people think that they just need to give during the holidays. But, we want to give back to the community year-round. This is such a simple way for someone on their lunch break to give back to the community," said Debbie Quarles, Marketing Director for Chick-Fil-A in Waco.
Quarles says the goal is to feed at least 2,000 people with this "buy one, give one" type of campaign.
Chick-Fil-A locations in Killeen, Harker Heights, Temple and Waco will be participating.
