City of Waco Press Release — The city of Waco is updating its Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan.
The draft plan is available for viewing online at: www.wacowater.com/proposeddroughtconservation2014.html . The city is accepting public comment on the plan through April 1, when a public hearing will be held during the city council meeting.
The most recent changes to the plan are intended to simplify, streamline and strengthen the Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan. All residents of the City of Waco are invited to review the plan and provide relevant comments, prior to its adoption by city council.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires that all Public Water Systems maintain a Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan and that the plans be updated every five years. Since its inception, in 2004, the City of Waco’s plan has been updated three times – in 2009, 2011 and now.
