Waco, Texas — Tuesday night, city leaders met with residents of Waco to "give them a voice" concerning proposed changes to the city's neighborhood parking ordinance.
Under the proposed changes, boats, oversized vehicles, trailers, and commercial vehicles will be prohibited to stand or park in a street without proper cause for more than five hours. Officials say the police department has received an influx of calls about safety concerns with such large vehicles being stopped for extended periods of time on neighborhood streets.
The council started discussing this issue last November, and they were in support of a ban. RV and boat owners have been concerned they would have to find somewhere to rent or store their boats, RVs, etc.
No action was taken during the meeting, and officials are still taking public comments via telephone. The council will meet at a later date to revisit this issue.
